Bertra beach is one of the several near the County Mayo coastline in Ireland which have been conferred a blue flag status. Located at a distance of 12 kilometers west of Westport, the beach is quite popular among visitors.
One of the reasons which arouse the interest of the tourists in the place is its wonderful bird life. One can witness the presence of a variety of waders, gulls and terns in the area. Cormorants and Shags are some of the more commonly sighted birds near the beach and add to the natural beauty of the area. The area is of interest not just to bird watchers but also those interested in observing natural phenomenon of dune erosion. In short, it is one of the beaches in the world where one can revel in the natural bounty bestowed on the planet.
