County Dublin is the most popular county in Ireland. It bears a population of 1,187,176 as per the 2006 census and is considered as the most populous county in the country. It is one of the first counties of Ireland that was formally structured by King John of England in the late 12th century. It is one of the 32 counties of Ireland and located on the east coast of Ireland in Leinster province, adjoining the Irish Sea. It is surrounded by Meath on the north, Irish Sea.on the east, Wicklow on the south, Meath and Kildare on the west.

County Dublin was dissolved in 1994 and the area was divided into Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, South Dublin and Fingal, which are the modern administrative counties. These areas constitute the Dublin region and come under Dublin Regional Authority remit. The county dissolved from a political-administrative standpoint and its administration has been split. County Dublin has a golden history and is a wonderful chronological city. Its streets, walls, buildings, museum and gardens reflect its glorious past.

The principal towns in the county are namely- Balbriggan, Skerries and Dun Laoghaire. These towns are attached to the county for various administrative purposes. County Dublin is linked by ship services with Belfast and Cork in Ireland. It is also linked with other ports in France, England and Scotland. Railroads in Dublin offer better communications with important places in Ireland.
